Mr. Havercroft has taught English for 11 years. Owing to his background in the Humanities – he has a Bachelors degree in Politics and a Masters degree in Philosophy – he is passionate about English being put to effective practical use for academic purposes. Mr. Havercroft is also highly enthusiastic about using English for creativity, play, and personal growth: he was a member of the Creative Writing workshop at The University of Sheffield and studied MA-level modules on American and European literature while reading philosophy.

He believes intensely that developing language ability is essential to being an independent, safe, ethical, and productive human being. Mr. Havercroft also believes that reading broadly and openly is one of the keys to a contentful life. At the same time, he understands that everyone has a different use for and enjoyment in literature, and he aims to give students space to find their own value in the world of literary texts.

Ms. Shuang has 10 years of experience teaching Chinese, specializing in IGCSE and A-Level Chinese courses. She graduated from the Education University of Hong Kong with a Master’s degree in Chinese Studies, possessing a strong academic foundation and professional expertise.
双老师拥有10年的中文教学经验，专注于IGCSE（国际普通中等教育证书）和A-Level（英国高中课程）中文课程教学领域。她毕业于香港教育大学，获得中国研究专业硕士学位，有着扎实的学术基础与专业知识储备。
Ms. Shuang also holds a professional teaching qualification in Chinese from the Education University of Hong Kong. She has completed IB-recognized Chinese teaching workshop training, gaining in-depth knowledge of the IB curriculum and pedagogical approaches.
双老师持有香港教育大学颁发的中文专业教学资格证书，并且完成了IB（国际文凭组织）认证的中文教学工作坊培训，对IB课程体系及教学方法有着深入的了解。
Her classes are known for being lively and engaging, adeptly using interactive teaching methods and contextual learning to ignite students’ enthusiasm. Ms. Shuang excels in teaching Chinese drama, having repeatedly guided students in adapting scripts and performing plays, successfully blending literature with performing arts to enhance students’ language proficiency and cultural understanding.

Ms. Chi has over eight years of experience teaching Chinese, with expertise in international curricula including IGCSE, IB MYP, and IB DP. She is thoroughly familiar with the teaching objectives, knowledge structures, and assessment criteria across different academic levels.She holds a teaching qualification certified by China’s Ministry of Education and possesses a solid background in Chinese linguistics.

Ms. Chi has also obtained the “IB Certificate in Teaching and Learning” co-issued by the IBO and the University of Toronto. Through systematic training, she has mastered the IB’s educational principles focused on cultivating lifelong learners, and employs inquiry-based instructional methods along with diversified evaluation approaches.

Her teaching is highly interactive. She emphasizes connecting course content to students’ daily lives and current global issues, enabling students to acquire language proficiency while enhancing their critical thinking, communication abilities, and global perspectives.

Mr. Fierros has more than 18 years experience as a teacher in different fields and countries. He has taught in the UK, Barcelona and Hong Kong before joining SUIS Gubei. He teaches Mathematics for the IGCSE students as well as grade 11 of IBDP Analysis and Approaches Higher Level and is passionate about group theory and complex analysis.

Mr. Fierros has a BA in Modern Foreign in Languages from King’s College London, a BSc Mathematics from the Open University and a PGCE again from King’s College London. He holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from the UK Department of Education. He has also been a mentor to trainee teachers for many years at Kent & Medway Teacher training in conjunction with his teacher position in a London Grammar school. He has also taken the roles of subject and Gifted & Talented coordinator.

Mr. Fierros believes in a holistic education of his students that produces life-long learners and considers himself a case in point. He is also an amateur astrophotographer and enjoys attending rocket launches at Wenchang Spaceport in Hainan Island.

Ms. Mabunay is a highly experienced educator with 20 years of expertise in teaching secondary mathematics. Her primary objective is to prepare students for their future academic pursuits by encouraging them to apply mathematical concepts in STEM projects. By challenging her students, she aims to guide them in exploring their interests and potential career paths in higher education.
Mabunay 老师是一位在教育领域深耕多年、经验颇丰的教育工作者，在中学数学教学方面有着长达20年的专业经验积累。在教学过程中，她着重引导学生将数学概念融入STEM（科学、技术、工程和数学）项目里，以此助力学生为未来的学术发展筑牢根基。同时，她还会通过巧妙设置挑战，引领学生去探寻自身兴趣所在，并明晰在高等教育阶段可能的职业发展路径。
In addition to her teaching duties, Ms. Mabunay is dedicated to community engagement. She believes that giving back is vital for personal and communal growth. To this end, she conducts training workshops for teachers and interns, sharing contemporary best practices in education to equip them for their future roles in the classroom.

Her extensive experience, which includes teaching in the Philippines, Bangladesh, and China, has significantly enriched her expertise. This diverse background enhances her ability to connect with students and colleagues, allowing her to make a meaningful impact in the field of education.

Having recently completed his second Master’s degree with the University of Manchester, Mr. Kaspar joins SUIS Gubei to facilitate IGCSE and IBDP Economics, with 9 year’s teaching experience in China.

Mr. Kaspar prides himself in creating engaging learning experiences that empower students to use a variety of formats to complete their tasks and homework, bridging the gap between disciplines in the classroom.

Having produced a number of short films and cinematic videos, Mr. Kaspar is the proud lead of the Cinematography and Videography ECA, fostering students’ technical skills when it comes to making short narrative films.

Mr Gong is currently teaching Theatre to G9-10 students. He also teaches theatre-based ECAs such as Scripted Performance and Theatre Festival Week. Mr. Gong has 7 years of teaching acting and 3 years of teaching IGCSE in an international school in Shanghai.

Mr. Gong completed a BA in Arts degree in Drama and Theatre Education at the Central Academy of Drama in China. Then received his MA in Arts at the University of Warwick in the UK.

Mr. Gong is dedicated to cultivating students’ directing and acting ability; he helped students perform plenty of shows. Some of them are musical, some are theatre, some are original pieces. With his help, some of his students successfully attended a Top university in China.

Mr. Gong specialises in directing. He enjoys the joy and growth that drama brings him. Meanwhile, he also wants to pass on this gain to students and explore the world continuously with them through the subject of drama. Observe the world from the perspective of a director and shine on the stage as a performer.

Ms. Li is the School Counselor at SUIS Gubei, supporting the social, emotional, and academic wellbeing of students across grade levels. She holds a Master of Education in Multi-age Education and a Bachelor in Psychology from the University of Toledo, USA. She is certified with a Psychological Counseling Certificate from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a United States Resident Educator License.

At SUIS Gubei, Ms. Li contributes to safeguarding, delivers wellbeing talks, and supports student development through both regular and on-demand counseling services. In addition, she leads ECAs, including ‘Balance in Bricks’, which helps students develop focus, relieve stress, and gain a sense of achievement through structured building activities.
在协和古北，李老师致力于为学生提供一个安全健康的的教学环境，定期开展心理健康讲座，并通过定期及按需提供的咨询服务，全方位助力学生发展。此外，她还负责“Balance in Bricks”的课外拓展活动（ECA），该活动借助有组织的搭建活动，助力学生提升专注力、缓解压力，进而收获成就感。
Ms. Li values students’ holistic health and safety, and is committed to creating a comfortable, caring, non-judgmental, and confidential environment. She believes that everyone faces challenges in life, and wants students to know they do not have to go through them alone.

Mr. Montesinos serves as the Librarian at SUIS Gubei Campus.

A recognized IB Librarian by the IBO, he holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Librarianship and Information Sciences from the University of Granada, Spain, and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from the University of Cordoba.

His work focuses on coaching students and teachers in using the library’s resources and sharing best research practices. Mr Montesinos is deeply passionate about storytelling, believing that powerful narratives are found equally in novels, poems, films, and video games.

Ms. Li holds an MA in Education from University College London (UCL). She has been working in international education counselling for more than five years, helping students navigate their academic journeys and prepare for higher education. With experience across international curricula, as well as standardized tests, she is familiar with the different pathways students may take toward their university goals.
