QUESTION：Your most memorable stories or moments at SUIS Gubei.

Ashling：My most memorable moments at SUIS Gubei are definitely the school events like the winter charity bazaar, the MUN conferences and the school theatre productions. I’ve really enjoyed engaging in the school community and exploring the school’s wide range of extracurricular opportunities.

QUESTION：Have you overcome any challenges in your school life that you are proud of?

Ashling：I think a major challenge for every IB student is time management. I’m very proud of how I’ve been able to overcome this challenge, juggling academics, extracurricular activities, and social life. Finding this balance is always a work in progress, and I’m very glad I’ve been managing it well so far.

QUESTION：Describe your thought process when making decision on your destination university. How did you decide which one to go for?

Ashling：I approached my application process with an open mind. I wanted to keep my options diverse and open, so I applied to both UK and US universities. The factors I considered when selecting universities were their reputation and strength in Engineering, the location, and the opportunities available for research and internships.

QUESTION：What advice would you like to give to our lower grade students on the preparation of future study?

Ashling：I would recommend lower grade students to take advantage of the time you have and plan it wisely. During your IGCSE years, explore different subjects and activities to find what they enjoy and want to continue pursuing. Don’t hold yourself back from trying something new or different, and don’t shy away from opportunities. During IB, however, especially during Grade 12, I would recommend prioritizing your academics.

That doesn’t mean neglecting other important aspects like mental health and social life. Once again, finding a balance is essential.

问：在协和古北就读期间，你最为难忘的经历是什么？

Ashling：在协和古北，我最难忘的时刻是学校所举办的丰富多彩的活动，诸如冬季慈善集市、模拟联合国会议以及学校年度舞台剧等。这些活动的参与为我提供了更多探索学校课外活动的契机，使我在其中收获颇丰。

对于每位IB学生而言，时间管理无疑是一项重要的挑战。我深感自豪的是，我成功地克服了这一挑战，实现了学业、课外活动以及社交生活的平衡与兼顾。这一经历不仅锻炼了我的时间管理能力，更培养了我应对压力与挑战的能力。

问：求学过程中你有遇到过什么挑战吗？你如何克服它的？

Ashling：作为一名IB学生，我深知时间管理对于我们而言是极其重要的挑战之一。我为自己能够成功应对这一挑战，实现学业、课外活动以及社交生活的和谐共存，感到由衷的自豪。我一直努力寻求学习与课外活动、社交生活之间的平衡点，并为此付出了大量的努力和时间。我很高兴能够向大家宣布，到目前为止，我在这方面取得了显著的成果，并将继续努力保持这一状态。

问：描述一下你选择目标大学时的思考过程。你又是如何决定最终去往哪一所院校的？

Ashling：关于我的申请历程，我始终秉持开放的态度，在选校方面尤为注重多样性与开放性。我决定同时申请英国和美国的学校，择校的主要考量因素包括工程学领域的声誉与实力、学校的地理位置，以及研究和实习的机遇。

问：你对我们低年级的学生在学业方面有什么建议？

Ashling：我建议低年级的学生们要善用现有时间，制定出科学合理的规划。在IGCSE阶段，广泛涉猎不同的学科和活动，以发掘自己真正热爱并愿意深入研究的领域。面对新的或不同的尝试，不应心生畏惧，更不应回避机遇。然而，当进入IB阶段，特别是12年级时，我则建议你们将学业置于首位。这并不意味着你们可以忽视其他如心理健康和社交生活等同样重要的方面。在此，再次强调，保持各方面的平衡至关重要。
