October came with soft sunlight and gentle winds.
This October, inspired by World Mental Health Day, we brought our school community together through two special events. From a thoughtful conversation about mental health to heartfelt words of encouragement, we explored how small moments of care can bring us closer together.
Flag-Raising Ceremony | Listening and Connecting
On October 12, Ella Chen and Ella Mao shared their reflections on World Mental Health Day during our flag-raising ceremony, inviting us to consider a simple question: beyond our busy lives and digital screens, are we still noticing and truly listening to one another?
This year’s global theme for World Mental Health Day is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.” Through their speech, the students reminded us that caring about mental health means more than simply learning about it. It means listening to people’s real experiences, acknowledging their feelings, and making sure their voices are heard.

Technology can help us track our sleep and manage stress, but it cannot replace genuine human connection. Putting our phones aside, noticing the world around us, or having an honest conversation with a friend can help us reconnect with others.
Sometimes, care begins with the simplest things: noticing a little more, listening a little more, and reaching out a little more.
Mental health is not something we have to face alone. When we are willing to share our own feelings and make room for someone else’s story, meaningful connections begin to grow.
We Share, We Care | Let Kindness Shine
We Share, We Care |
Later that week, our “We Share, We Care” message wall event arrived as promised, bathed in the morning sunlight.
We wanted to bring the ideas from our speech into real life — something everyone could be part of. The idea was simple: write one encouraging sentence for yourself or for someone around you, pass on a little support and kindness, and bring more positive energy to our campus.

“Eat well, sleep well.”
“PP1, you are the best.”
“Thank you for being there to talk with me when things were hardest.”
“You are enough.”

One simple sentence after another, together they became a wall that glows. And kindness quietly flowed through it.
World Mental Health Day reminds us that caring for our mental wellbeing is just as important as caring for our physical health. But beyond simply being aware, we also need to express how we feel — to share our care, gratitude, and appreciation with the people around us.
A few words of encouragement can give us strength and bring warmth to someone else.
Every act of kindness makes our school a warmer place.
