We are thrilled to announce that our incredible students have made us very proud with their performance in this year’s prestigious Business Pioneer Case Challenge (BPC). This high school competition, organized by the Harvard Association for U.S.-China Relations (HAUSCR) in collaboration with Harvard Business Publishing, is one of the most esteemed platforms for young business minds in China.
Official Partner/官方合作伙伴
As an official designated high school partner of the competition, SUIS Gubei is now in its second year of supporting the Business Pioneer Case Challenge, and our students have achieved some fantastic successes in this year’s competition, on which we congratulate them wholeheartedly. This victory is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students and the unwavering support from our teachers and staff.
Global Champions/全球冠军
Not only did five SUIS Gubei teams win awards, but four of our Grade 10 Pre-DP students (Susan Ding, Kendy Liu, Lucas Xu, and Oscar Zhang) emerged as the global champions, triumphing in the global round held at Harvard University itself in the US, beating out competition from 80 top teams who made it through to the global final. Our students showcased exceptional analytical skills and innovative solutions, ultimately impressing the panel of judges and securing the top position.
Susan’s Reflection
“The part I enjoyed the most in BPC was the main competition – case challenge part. The main task is to find out the existing problems of businesses in Harvard Campus, and to put forward constructive solutions for them from ESG and other perspectives, so as to make their operations more efficient and environmentally friendly.”
“Comprehensive business model analysis, innovative solutions, detailed financial forecast and good team coordination made us stand out from all participating teams and won first award in team presentation global final. It makes me understand that the best way to overcome any challenges is to maintain calm and steady mindset, until the last moment.”
Kendy’s Reflection
“I decided to enter the BPC competition because it offered a unique platform to engage with high-level business challenges and apply my academic knowledge in a practical context. As the CFO of our team, I was responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of our project, which involved strategic planning and financial forecasting. Simultaneously, this chance augmented my competence on understanding the financial reports such as income statement and cash flow statement.”
“Throughout the competition, I developed several new skills that will be invaluable in my future career. I enhanced my financial analysis and budgeting abilities, learned how to create compelling financial presentations, and improved my leadership and teamwork skills. The experience also deepened my understanding of strategic financial management and the intricacies of business publishing.”
Harrison Liu said
“Participating in the Business Pioneer Case Challenge was a valuable learning experience…. The challenge provided a deep dive into the role of a CFO in a complex business environment, requiring us to utilize our skills in calculations, modeling, and strategic thinking…. The experience also taught me the importance of collaboration and teamwork. Each member of our team had their own strengths and areas of expertise, and we had to leverage these to come up with the best possible solution.”
Frank Zhang added
“I gained a great deal of knowledge and experience during this business challenge. … I learned the complexity of building a specific business model, mastered various techniques for selling products, and summarized costs effectively. … This process not only brought us closer together as a team, but also enhanced our understanding and appreciation of different points of view.”
Competition Format/竞赛形式
Students study business management, economics, and strategic thinking online learning modules, followed up with an intensive four-day in-person program at the Harvard Center in Shanghai. They then collaborate with other teams to role play as company executives and present to a boards of directors. Research skills are also enhanced, with business simulations, meetings with industry leaders, and analyses of case studies highly relevant to the business world.
