In university applications, the right information can matter as much as hard work. Our University Guidance Counselling (UGC) team stays in close connected with leading universities to keep up with the latest developments.
This week, admissions representatives from UCL, the University of Calgary, Boston University and Michigan State University visited our campus. Earlier this year, we also attended WCSiL, UCAS and the International ACAC Annual Conference.
Through these exchanges, we bring first-hand insights back to school to help students make informed university choices.

1 University Visits 顶尖大学到访：招生官进校园
This week, we welcomed admissions representatives from several leading overseas universities to our campus:

These sessions gave students direct insight into academic strengths, course options, application timelines and practical advice from university admissions teams.

2 Global Connections 升学指导大会：连接全球同行
From 14 to 16 July 2026, two university guidance counselors from SUIS Gubei travelled to Pittsburgh, USA, to attend the 2026 International ACAC Annual Conference. Co-hosted by Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh under the theme “BridgeBuilders”, the conference brought together 1,453 participants from 93 countries and regions.
2026年7月14日至16日，协和古北两位升学指导老师赴美国匹兹堡，参加2026国际大学升学指导协会年度大会（International Association for College Admission Counseling，简称International ACAC）。本次会议由卡内基梅隆大学与匹兹堡大学联合主办，以”BridgeBuilders”（桥梁建造者）为主题，汇聚了来自93个国家和地区的1453名参与者。
International ACAC is an influential professional organisation connecting secondary school counsellors and university admissions professionals around the world. Unlike a conventional university fair, the conference is not simply about recruitment. It provides a global professional network where counsellors and admissions professionals share insights, exchange ideas and build connections. After several days of conversations and networking, our counsellors returned with dozens of new contacts, creating opportunities for future resource sharing and cross-regional collaboration.
International ACAC是一个连接全球中学升学指导与大学招生专业人士的专业组织。与普通大学宣讲会或教育展不同，这场大会并不只是为了招生，而是一个连接全球升学指导与大学招生同行的专业网络。几天的交流与互动中，参会者建立了大量新的联系，为未来的信息共享和跨地区合作打下基础。
In June 2026, our team also travelled to the UK for the WCSiL and UCAS Conferences. WCSiL, jointly hosted by Imperial College London, UCL, LSE and King’s College London, offered first-hand insight into how leading London universities approach admissions and develop their academic programmes. The UCAS Conference focused on key developments within the UK undergraduate admissions system, including personal statement reform and policies affecting international students. One helped us understand how leading universities select students, while the other offered insight into how the wider admissions system is evolving. Together, they gave our counsellors a broader picture of the UK admissions landscape.
今年6月，我们的团队还赴英国参加了伦敦世界顶尖大学升学指导大会（World Class Study in London Conference，简称WCSiL）与UCAS大会（Universities and Colleges Admissions Service International Conference，简称UCAS）。WCSiL由帝国理工学院、伦敦大学学院、伦敦政治经济学院和伦敦国王学院联合举办，帮助我们从一线了解伦敦顶尖大学的招生逻辑与学术发展；UCAS大会则聚焦英国本科招生体系的最新变化，包括个人陈述改革和国际学生相关政策。一场帮助我们理解”顶尖大学如何选拔学生”，另一场帮助我们理解”整个招生体系如何运作”，两者共同构成了对英国本科招生环境更加完整的认识。
3 Emerging Trends in Admissions 招生趋势：跨学科与职业发展
The WCSiL Conference highlighted a growing trend among London universities: the development of interdisciplinary programmes. As students face global challenges and a changing career landscape, UK universities are increasingly encouraging them to connect knowledge across different academic fields.
在WCSiL大会上，伦敦多所大学介绍了最新的课程发展方向。其中，一个越来越明显的趋势是跨学科学习。面对全球性问题和不断变化的职业环境，英国高校正越来越重视不同学科之间的连接。
Imperial College London, for example, is developing programmes that bring together research, innovation and entrepreneurship. Its four-year Medical Science & Innovation MSci, which launches in 2027, focuses on translating biomedical research into healthcare innovation, while the Biomedical Technology Ventures BSc combines biomedical engineering, entrepreneurship and business strategy, with a compulsory internship. UCL also showcased interdisciplinary programmes such as Engineering and Architectural Design and Geography with Social Data Science, giving students opportunities to explore connections across different fields.

University representatives also highlighted qualities such as creative thinking, resilience, adaptability, curiosity and lifelong learning. Universities are increasingly embedding career development into the wider student experience. UCL supports entrepreneurship, freelancing and start-up development, while LSE provides careers guidance, mentoring, employer events and departmental support.
与此同时，大学招生代表也强调了创造性思维、韧性、适应力、好奇心和终身学习等能力。高校越来越重视将职业发展融入学生的整体学习体验，例如UCL提供创业、自由职业和初创项目发展支持，LSE则提供职业咨询、导师辅导、雇主交流活动及院系层面的职业支持。
